Teotihuacan at sunrise

Guided tour of Teotihuacan at sunset

Visit Teotihuacán, the “City of the Gods” in the afternoon and admire the tonalities of the sky as the sun sets over the landscape.

The tour starts at the meeting point in Mexico City, to travel to the northeast, through the suburbs of the city, while the guide explains about the history of the different places you will go by.

After a brief introduction about the tour of Teotihuacán, start the ascent to the Pyramid of the Sun, then continue with the Pyramid of the Moon, while the guide describes the Mesoamerican architecture, design and cosmovision.

Teotihuacan and Basilica de Guadalupe with lunch

Our tour begins in Tlatelolco, currently the largest archaeological site in Mexico City, which was once part of the capital of the Aztec Empire. The main market of that empire was here and also where the conquest of the Aztecs was consummated. Right there is the Plaza de las Tres Culturas is where the Prehispanic and Colonial history and the present of Mexico meet.

Later we will continue the tour to what is now popularly known as La Villa or the Basílica de Guadalupe; this is the most important religious building in all of Mexico and one of the most visited places in the Catholic world, which annually receives more than twenty million pilgrims. After the Basílica de Guadalupe in Mexico City, we continue our trip to Teotihuacán, “City of the Gods”, located northeast of Mexico City. In Teotihuacán, the guide will tell us about the history of this place, its mysteries, its development, its greatness, its importance and its fall, and then we will have free time for those who wish to climb the Pyramid of the Sun, the Moon and Walk through the famous “Avenue of the Dead”.

Xochimilco, Coyoacan and Frida Kahlo Museum

This is one of our most colorful excursions, since we will not only visit the famous “Blue House”, but you will also visit the majestic architecture of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), the landscape of the picturesque center of Coyoacán and the colors of Xochimilco, “place of the flowers.”

The first stop will be in Coyoacán, whose name in Nahuatl means “place of coyotes”. Here our guide will give you an explanation about the origin and importance of this neighbourhood and its surroundings, plus you will have time to walk its streets and, if you wish, have a light breakfast (on your own). Afterwards, you will visit the Frida Kahlo museum-house, or the ” Blue House”, where you will learn about the intense relationship between Frida, her work and her home, the place where she was born and died. Although when she married Diego Rivera, she lived in different places in Mexico City and abroad, Frida always returned to her house in Coyoacán. The trip continues to one of the favorite places of Frida Kahlo, Xochimilco. Here you will not only get information about its origins, which go back to pre-Hispanic times, but you can also enjoy a trip in a trajinera, a traditional boat in this area.

After the boat trip you will have free time to visit the craft market or try the delicious food they sell in the area.

Our last stop is the National University. Our guide will explain the murals of the Rectory and the
Central Library of the central campus of the National University.

Xochimilco and Coyoacan

This is one of our most colorful excursions due to the majestic architecture of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), the landscape of the picturesque area of Coyoacán and the colors of Xochimilco where the name says it all: you will see a “place of flowers”.

The first stop is Coyoacán, whose name in Nahuatl means “place of those who have coyotes”. The history of this place dates back to pre-Hispanic times; it was in this area where the first community centers of the Mesoamerican highlands were developed. For over  2,500 years this place has been changing and evolving, either due to natural causes, such as volcanic eruptions, or to human intervention as the urban area has expanded.

We continue our journey to the south of the city to one of Frida Kahlo’s favorite places: Xochimilco.

When visiting this World Heritage Site, you will enjoy an incredible tour of its canals on board a trajinera, to evoke those times when the lake environment dominated the landscape of Anahuac.

After the tour, you will have time to eat a dish of the region or buy local crafts (on your own).

Upon leaving, we will take you to an express stop to the central campus of the National Autonomous University of Mexico, and your guide will explain the murals of the rectory, the central library and you will have time to take spectacular photographs before returning to our point of meeting.

Taxco and Cuernavaca with lunch

Take a full day and admire Taxco, a unique colonial city famous for its silver crafts. In addition, you can enjoy delicious lunch at one of the restaurants in the region. We begin our trip in the center of Mexico City and then take a scenic ride to Cuernavaca, “The city of eternal spring.”

In Cuernavaca we will take a look at the cathedral, a building whose construction dates back to the 16th century, which makes it one of the oldest cathedrals in the country. Our panoramic tour contemplates the exterior of the Palacio de Cortés, built by order of Hernán Cortés in the years immediately following the Conquest of Mexico; and finally to the monument to Morelos, an insurgent military and Mexican patriot, who organized and was the architect of the second stage of the Mexican War of Independence.

We will continue our way to Taxco, a colonial city with hundreds of years of history, located on a hill with winding cobbled streets, cozy squares and a strong old world atmosphere that has survived through hundreds of years. You will visit one of the largest churches in Mexico: Santa Prisca; built in 1759 by the French immigrant José de la Borda, who literally ran into a huge silver spring.

Taxco is known worldwide for its silver mines and quality shops, you will have the opportunity to see and buy works of art from Mexican artisans.

Walking tour through the city center

We start in the historic center, to be precise in the Zocalo, where the empire of the Aztecs was once built, and then demolished during the Spanish conquest to be built again into a colonial city with the same stones.

We will walk through some of the busiest streets in the center and visit emblematic buildings such as the Metropolitan Cathedral, Palacio Nacional, Templo Mayor and Bellas Artes. When we have the opportunity and a religious ceremony is not taking place in the Cathedral, we can enter and admire the beautiful architecture; maximum colonial work in the American continent. Those who wish to can enter a few minutes to listen to mass.

You can see archaeological vestiges of the Templo Mayor de Tenochtitlan, which were part of Mexican culture of the late Postclassic period. We will also walk through one of the most popular avenues of the center; Francisco I. Madero, known for its clothing stores, night entertainment centers, cafés and a variety of street performances. In short going through this street will surprise you. With this tour we will better know city life in the heart of Mexico City.
